Local businesses in London are encouraged to nominate themselves for the Time Out Love London Awards 2016 throughout September. Now in its third year, the Awards celebrate and champion the capital’s most loved independents across five categories:

•         Bars & pubs
•         Restaurants
•         Coffee shops & cafés
•         Shops
•         Cultural venues

The Awards, voted for entirely by the people of London, aim to reveal the city’s hidden gems. Winners will benefit from huge publicity as they will be showcased on and in Time Out London magazine to an audience of millions of users and readers.
Jason Maddock, owner of BOW WOW London, a successful dog boutique in Covent Garden, describes how winning the 2015 Award boosted his business: “Since winning last year’s Most Loved Shop Award, the BOW WOW London’s profile has been raised – this has resulted in a large increase in footfall and sales. I’d recommend all independent businesses to nominate themselves, to benefit from the increased exposure the Award brings.”
Throughout September, local businesses can nominate themselves on and are encouraged to get their customers behind them. Time Out is sending out posters and flyers to nearly 10,000 London venues so they can maximise their chances of getting nominated. Businesses can also use print, online and social media assets that are available on
Across over 90 London neighbourhoods, the top 10 nominees in each category will progress to the voting stage from October 6 to 31. Winners will be revealed across Time Out’s digital, social and print channels and at an Awards Party on November 14 in London – at last year’s event almost 1,000 businesses celebrated with Time Out.
This year, the Awards are going global across London (where it’s in its 3rd year), Paris (2nd year) and for the first time New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Lisbon. They are part of Time Out’s commitment to support local businesses by helping them to increase their visibility and reach a wide, engaged audience. Other initiatives include enhanced site listings, the Global Bar Awards and the opportunity to promote offers.
Sarah Bartlett, CMO Time Out Group, said: “Since 1968, Time Out has been dedicated to discovering and championing the best of the city. And we are committed to supporting independent local businesses and their entrepreneurial spirit. We know how much Londoners cherish those unsung heroes. They make all the difference to a city like London, and deserve to have their profile raised. Businesses, no matter how new or how small, should nominate themselves now, to get the best chance of reaching Time Out’s large, engaged and active audience.”
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, commented: "From Cricklewood to Croydon, Barnes to Barking, London’s local businesses are the beating heart of our city’s vibrant communities. I’m asking Londoners to get behind their neighbourhood favourites in the Time Out Love London Awards 2016. It’s an excellent way to show your appreciation of your favourite local shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs or cultural venues in each corner of the capital and tell the stories behind these hidden gems.”
