Restaurants Join The Fight Against Hunger

Humanitarian charity, Action Against Hunger is calling on the country’s chefs and restaurateurs to unite in the fight against hunger for the tenth anniversary of its Restaurants Against Hunger Campaign.

An international campaign, Restaurants Against Hunger raises essential funds to help those most in need to feed themselves. Working throughout the year, the campaign’s focus of activity is ‘Fight hunger. Eat out’ month in October to coincide with UN World Food Day on the 16th of the month.

Last year saw the UK restaurant industry raise over £300,000 for the campaign, with all funds going directly to support the vital work of Action Against Hunger. This year, more than 500 restaurants are expected to sign up, helping the charity to reach their target of £450,000 and make this year’s ‘Fight hunger. Eat out’ month the biggest ever.

Getting involved is free and couldn’t be easier, whether your operation is a restaurant, cafĂ© or gastropub, you can do your bit in a way that suits your business. Suggestions include: giving a percentage of sales from a specific dish to the charity; asking guests to make an optional donation when paying the bill or hosting a special event or themed evening.
