National Vegetarian Week

This year marks the 16th year that National Vegetarian Week has been going and the organisers aim to make this one the biggest yet.

Over the week of the 19th May, retailers, food producers, community groups, chefs and restaurant owners will come together to find out what is going on in the vegetarian realm. They will be able to see new dishes, new ideas and network with likeminded people.

The week aims to promote the growth of vegetarianism, which has been steadily rising in the UK since the 1980’s.

The event also hopes to dispel the myth that vegetarians can only eat tofu or Soya. With a number of events such as challenging people to go vegetarian for 24 hours, or maybe watching ethically sourced clothing in the fashion section.

The week will also host the Veggie Awards, which will find the best restaurant, pub and best beauty products.
