Lifetime achievement award for Aagrah Chairman

Mohammed Sabir MBE, Chairman of the Aagrah Group of restaurants has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement award the English Curry Awards 2012, which was held earlier this week in Bolton. The business was started by more than 35 and initially operated out of a mobile can called the Spice Pot. The family run chain is now the UK’s largest chain of Kashmiri restaurant with 15 branches and a purpose built Conference and Banqueting Suite which holds 450 people.Aagrah has also recently added to their astonishing portfolio by going into food manufacturing. They now have a range of Tarka cooking sauces and chutneys in Asda and Tesco. The success of their products has now seen them outselling some of the more established brands. Mr. Sabir, said: “I am humbled and delighted to receive an industry honour like this.”

The award adds to Mr. Sabir’s recent receipt of an honorary degree by Leeds Met University. The company has also launched a new generation of Kashmiri dishes alongside their classic recipes to cater for developing tastes.
