Kebabish Wins Yorkshire Evening Post’s Nightlife Award

Bradford’s Kebabish restaurant, based in the city’s Greengates area, has won the coveted Yorkshire Evening Post Nightlife Award in the Best Indian Restaurant Category.

The Nightlife Awards, which honour the best entertainment venues, restaurants, pubs and clubs in the region, are voted for by the readers of the Yorkshire Post to select their favourite place.

Jehangir Durrani, owner of the 85 seater Kebabish, said: “We were very pleased with the award and the response from the newspaper’s readers has been excellent. We have had customers coming in from around Yorkshire after they heard about our winning the award. It’s a fantastic acknowledgement of all the hard work my team and I have put into the restaurant.”

Though the Kebabish has been open for many years, Durrani took over the restaurant eight years ago and now runs it with his nephew, along with his son who helps out when not at university.

“Clearly, our Lahori style cooking has been a big hit,” added Durrani. “Even though our restaurant has a very contemporary sheen, we pride ourselves in authentic style dishes with our most popular dishes being lamb nihari, chicken shashlik, chicken tikka and masala fish. We’ll soon be introducing our new menu with dishes including kunna, which is a rich lamb dish, served in a clay pot, along with chicken and lamb biryanis.”

In the meantime, come June 15, customers will be partaking in the restaurant’s annual Day Out with Kebabish with a trip to the races in Doncaster with a buffet breakfast and a five course meal included.
