Monkfish, confit potatoes and smoked bacon were the magical ingredients that helped 15-year-old Bradley Johnston scoop the FutureChef 2008 title from 11 of his peers and fellow contenders in March. Bradley – a student and aspiring chef at Strangford College in County Down – cooked up a storm on St. Patrick’s Day and won an array of fantastic prizes that will help him realise his dream of becoming a professional chef.

Over 200 guests assembled at Westminster Kingsway College to witness the national final of the nationwide competition. Those who anticipated an exhibition of the culinary world’s future stars in action were not disappointed.

Brian Turner CBE, chairman of the FutureChef competition and member of the panel of high-profile food and restaurant industry judges said, “It was obvious how much thought had been put into every dish and the tastes were sublime.
