The Ambrette is hosting a gourmet Indian dining evening with a six-course tasting menu with matched wines from Hix & Buck on Sunday 8th August. Hix and Buck, run by a former Bollywood dancer, which imports quality French wines from vineyards that produce on too small a scale to supply giant multiples.

Gently spiced meat of Fresh Ramsgate crabs stir fried and served with an aromatic crab jus flavoured with mustard oil, cinnamon and cardamom
Wine: Mas d'Intras Isidora Rose Vin de Pays des Coteaux de l'Ardèche The Cuvée Isidora is a fine blend of Syrah, Grenache, Merlot and Cinsault. It is an attractive and fruity wine, ideal for sipping with your friends or with seafood.
Succulent belly ribs of Kentish pork flavoured with fennel and sesame seeds
Wine: La Maison des Maines Mainart Sauvignon Blanc 2007 This delicious 100% Sauvignon Blanc is fresh and fruity. It is very well balanced with a good finish. This wine is great to drink on its own with friends, as an aperitif or with fish and seafood. We have chosen this wine for the pork as the fruitiness of the wine matches perfectly with the sweetness of the sauce.
Tender and sweet brochettes of Kentish lamb marinated at in mouth watering pickles and charcoal roasted. Served on a mildly spiced bed of sweet potatoes
Wine: Mas d'Intras Syrah 2007 Vin de Pays des Coteaux de l'Ardèche Commended Decanter World Wine Award 2010 This delicious syrah has a deep purple hue and is bursting with dark fruit and peppery flavours. It has a long warming finish and is great to drink on its own or a perfect accompaniment with red meat.
Tender chicken breast marinated in coriander, mint and green herbs and slow roasted in the tandoor.
Wine: La Maison des Maines Mainart 538 Chardonnay/Sauvignon 2008 This stunning blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Sauvignon Blanc is bursting with citrus and gooseberry flavours. It is great to drink on it's own or as an accompaniment with fish or white meats. Try it with some goat's cheese too!
Breast of Gressingham duck pan grilled with spices and accompanied by a sauce of fresh oranges, fennel and cinnamon
Wine: Mas d'Intras Cuvée Ferdinand 2007 Vin de Pays des Coteaux de l'Ardèche The Cuvee Ferdinand is a stunning blend of 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 20% Carignan. It has been matured in oak barrels for 12 months and has a subtle flavour of vanilla and thyme. This wine is delicious drunk on it's own or as an accompaniment to duck or wild boar. |
