Twice the Honour for Indian Restaurant Industry

mohammedaslamThe new decade has begun with the Indian restaurant trade being recognised twice in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.

Cyrus Todiwala, Chef Patron of Café Spice Namaste, in the City of London, has been awarded the OBE¬ - one of the nation’s highest honours. The accolade was presented for services to the hospitality industry. This is the second time Todiwala has been recognised by the palace – the first being an MBE he received in 2000.

Todiwala is also an ‘ambassador’ for the Investors in People Programme and is involved with the National Advisory Council for Education and Training Targets.

Mohammed Aslam, Managing Director and Executive Chef of the Bradford based Aagrah restaurant group, received an MBE. Aslam, an ex-governor of Thomas Danby College, continues to promote training, development and education across the hospitality and catering sector.
