Northampton's Wellington Street has recently seen the addition of a new restaurant, Fort Kochi, which adds to the burgeoning scene of south Indian food restaurants in the UK.Specialising in seafood and vegetarian dishes, Fort Kochi is decorated with blue coloured furnishings and carpets, crisp white tablecloths and light walls adorned with traditional artworks. The restaurant's menu includes starter dishes such as kathrika, made of sliced pieces of aubergine dipped in batter and blended with coriander and chilli and konju fry, made of fresh king prawns in a marinade of mixed spices and deep fried. Mains feature the likes of moru kachiyadu, a combination of sweet mangoes and green bananas cooked in yoghurt with green chillies, ginger and fresh curry, along with chicken stew, which consists of boneless chicken chunks in a creamy sauce of coconut, vegetables and cashew nuts.
