Narashimaraj crowned South Asian Chef of the Year

Muraliraj Narashimaraj, head chef at the Lasan Eatery in Birmingham, has been named the South Asian Chef of the Year at the South Asian Chef Competition (SACC) 2011.

Now in its seventh year, the national finals of the SACC saw eight finalists from across the UK compete in a cook-off at Leeds City College under the watchful eyes of judges Andrew Green, Shyam Patiar and Stephen Gomes.

Second place went to Ankur Baria from the Turtle Bay Caribbean Restaurant in Milton Keynes and third went to Tina Ditchfield of Coleg Llandrillo, the International Centre of Excellence in Culinary Arts for Wales.

The SACC Healthy Dish Award went to Amardeep Singh Anand, quarter finalist in MasterChef 2010, currently based at the Endimaj Restaurant, Leicester. The Innovative Award went to Santhosh Kumar Parmeswaran Nair from Cardiff’s Mint and Mustard Group.
